本单元为食物（Food and drinks）类的话题。可以较多地创设情境，让学生运用句型 “Do you want some rice?” “Yes, please.” “No, thank you.”来进行“男女生PK”的游戏，也可以用食物单词自主造句，以此加强句子的训练。还能开展“好记性”游戏，考一考学生对食物单词的记忆，并用它来向同学发问，在近乎真实的情境中操练对话。本单元还有一个重要的德育内容，即文明礼仪教育。无论是接受或拒绝询问，都要以礼相待。通过学习，学生可以了解西方人在日常对话中是怎样体现文明礼仪的。
本单元难点为个别单词的发音和理解。some more, a little的理解和应用是难点，因为在口语对话中会经常用到，所以要弄清他们的含义。B部分单词的发音也是难点。breakfast含有不完全爆破音，vegetables要特别注意复数形式，tomato, potato要多读，加强记忆。
