本校生源基础较差，学生的阅读习惯和阅读技巧都在培养过程中。作为新进的高一学生，面临新教材改革，加之初高中大跨度的学科差异，大部分学生还未完全适应高中的学习生活，英语科目尤甚。词汇基础薄弱，语法架构松散，方法技巧缺失等等都在打击学生的学习自信心。因此在此部分的教学实施中，教师首要做的应该是帮助学生明确英语学习方向，提升英语学习乐趣和自信心，让学生在阅读中收获学习方法的同时能感受到学习的快乐，进而对英语学习有个理性的、全面的认识。
