本校生源基础较差,学生的阅读习惯和阅读技巧都在培养过程中。作为新进的高一学生,面临新教材改革,加之初高中大跨度的学科差异,大部分学生还未完全适应高中的学习生活,英语科目尤甚。词汇基础薄弱,语法架构松散,方法技巧缺失等等都在打击学生的学习自信心。因此在此部分的教学实施中,教师首要做的应该是帮助学生明确英语学习方向,提升英语学习乐趣和自信心,让学生在阅读中收获学习方法的同时能感受到学习的快乐,进而对英语学习有个理性的、全面的认识。

In this period, the teacher will ask students three questions to introduce the topic.
1,What is a bank account?
2,Do you have a bank account?
3,If you have a bank account, how would you feel and what would you do with the money?
In this period, the main task is to enable the students to analyze the elements of this passage. There can be four elements which are setting, characters ,plot and theme. For the most difficult part--plot,the teacher will help students by using a plot tree.
Nels' urgent need for money(beginning)----the reaction of each family member(development)---- there is no bank account(climax).
In this period, the students need to think criticaly by the question: if you were the Mama, what would you do? Tell them the reality or tell them a lie?
This part is mainly to make students understand the theme of this passage.
T: For me, it depends. If my children were young, I would tell them a lie, because I want them to feel secure. But if my children were adults, they need to know the truth. Because they should take the responsibility. Whatever we do, we are a family.
