本单元的主题语境是“人与自我”,中心话题是“我与太极的故事”,摘自校园杂志一个中国中学生练太极的切身体验。从最初对太极的误解—太极是老年人的事,到太极俱乐部体验过后觉得真的很不错amazing,身心受益的同时激励“我”进一步了解太极背后的中国文化。太极招式生动有趣的名字,太极门派,从乏味到热爱的个人体验,太极文化的博大精深,作者受益良多并将继续坚持练习。太极是中国文化的瑰宝和象征,我们应该有文化自信,向世界传递中国声音,讲好中国故事,太极的传承和创新是我们的责任。
本班为高一K486学生,男生居多,学生整体英语基础、学习习惯和课后落实比较好。学生的深度学习是在教师的深度教学之下产生,因此,我在课前给学生布置了前置性作业,让他们上网查资料了解太极的利与弊。因为多数学生在英语表达上缺乏自信,根据文本信息进行推理、判断、评价等阅读高阶思维能力的培养仍有待提高,尤其缺乏对文章主题意义的深刻认识,主题辩论这种方式有利于激活他们思维,锻炼他们的表达能力。
在本课结束时,学生能够:
(1)感知太极的相关知识如招式、门派和背后的哲学思想(学习理解类活动);
(2)提炼段落大意,悟出文本主线和暗线,并探讨标题的深刻含义(应用实践类活动);
(3)辩论太极将是否在青少年中流行(迁移创新类活动)。

The yin yang philosophy of T'ai chi includes static dynamic, fast and slow, Chinese believe that dynamic is contained in static and fast is contained in slow. Tai chi is the combination of these energies. Its fighting principle is to maneuver the internal energy flows to achieve speed and power.
