    学情分析

    本版块围绕单元话题,要求学生在语境中观察、探究动词-ing形式的功能及意义,自主归纳动词-ing形式做定语、状语和宾语补足语的核心规则;教师应引导学生分析动词-ing形式在具体语境中所充当的不同成分及其对应的含义,并能正确、灵活地使用;最后要求学生恰当使用动词-ing形式完成一个图片描述任务。

    教学工具

    非谓语动词是高中学生最难的语法点之一,非谓语动词总共有三种形式,现在分词是其中的一种。现在分词的功能很多,特别是做状语,在写作中很有用,是能让学生写出高级句型的很好方式,然而糟糕的是学生在英语表达中很少用,一是因为学生们本身对长句理解就有困难,二是弄不清分词该如何用,以至于没能好好利用其巨大表达的功能,甚是可惜。本课就现在分词做状语这个点来探讨其用法,可以极大地降低非谓语动词学习的难度,教授学生简单易学的方法,并将知识与实际生活情境相结合,给学生自信,激发学习兴趣。

    教学设计

    教学目标

    By the end of this section, students will be able to :

    1. learn the functions of verb-ing forms;

    2. change sentence structures with verb-ing forms;

    3. apply verb-ing forms in new situation appropiately.

    教学重难点

    1. How to change adverbial clauses into V-ings;

    2. How to combine simple sentences into long senteces using V-ings as adverbials;

    3. To apply the rules correctly and properly.

    教学过程

    Listen to the song and pay attention to the words in the blanks.

       Hiding from the rain and snow

       trying to foget but I won't let go

       looking at a crowded street

       listen to my own heart beat

       so many people all around the wold

       tell me where do I find someone like you girl


    T: What do the words in the blanks have in common?

    S: They are V-ing forms.

    T: Yes, we call them the Present Participles. Today we will learn the present participle as adverbials.

    Task 1:

    Observe the following three sentences and think:

    Who takes the action?

    Seeing his mother, the baby burst into laughter.

    Being poor, he couldn't afford a TV set.

    Walking in the beach, I picked up some colorful seashells.

    Conclusion: When the present participle are used as adverbials, the subject of the clause and the subject of the main sentence must be the same(从句的主语和主句的主语必须一致).


    Task 2:

    Observe the following three sentences and think:

    What sentence parts do the V-ings serve? 

    Seeing his mother, the baby burst into laughter.

    = When he saw his mother,                                        time adverbial (时间状语)

    Being poor, he couldn't afford a TV set.

    = Because he was poor,                                              reason adverbial(原因状语)

    Walking in the beach, I picked up some colorful seashells.

    = When I was walking in the beach,                            time adverbial (时间状语)

    Conclusion: The present participle can fuction as adverbial clause.


    Task 3:

    What other adverbials do you know?

    (Students can speak in Chinese. T shows the examples on the screen.)

    1. Working hard at our lessons, we will be admitted into the key university.  conditional adverbial(条件状语)

    2. He was so absorbed in studying, forgetting to eat.                                      result adverbial(结果状语) 

    3. Missing our home, we still needs to work hard in the new month.              concession adverbial(让步状语)

    4. They walked out of the building, talking and smiling.                                  accompaniment adverbial(伴随状语)

    5. He came, running back to save the children.                                                method adverbial(方式状语)

    How to change adverbial clauses into present participles? How to combine sentences using present participles?

    Have a try:

    When they left the airport, they waved again and again. -->

    Leaving the airpot,  they waved again and again.

    单句改错

    Seen fron the top of the tower, the boy was shocked by the view. -->

    Seeing


    Advance the writings:

    1. Because he was ill, he couldn't go to school.

        Being ill, 

    2. When they saw their teacher, the students stood up.

        Seeing their teacher,

    3. If you work harder at English,you will make greater progress.

        Working harder at English,

    4. The children came into the classroom, and they laughed and talked.

    Look at the pictures  and tell a story of Tom's life. Make sentences using as many V-ings as possible.

    Work in groups of 6 and write the sentences down.


    Tom went to a party.          He came home late.         He overslept the next morning.

    He missed the last bus.      He walked to work.           He was late for work.

    现在分词作状语代替状语从句:

    1. 从句的主语必须与主句的主语一致

    2去掉从句的连词

    3. 去从句的主语

    4. 去掉从句的be动词(be+形容词除外)/将动词改成V-ing

                                     

    Beautify the passage using V-ing.

        Li Hua was raised in a poor family whose single mother works in Guang Zhou. Most of the time, he lives with his grandma and blind grandpa. Every day after school, he would spend some time with his blind grandpa, and talks about the outside world. Even though he faces so much difficulty, he never gives up. Yesterday, he got a call from his mother who said she would come back next week. When he heard the good news, he became very excited. Because he has been separated with his mother for nearly one year, he is eager to see her. That's why  Li  Hua walked to school and he is smiling and singing.
