    学情分析

    一、基本背景

    农村学校学生小学阶段没有开设英语课程,从初中开始才学习英语。导致许多学生基础不扎实,学生的基本词汇量不过关。在初中七年级到八年级过渡阶段,课程又从难度深度上有很大的跨进,许多学生无法适应,造成学生对英语学习逐渐失去了兴趣。同时这样的现状也给英语教师的教学带来了许多的挑战。

    二、班级学生基本情况

    所授班级人数45人。学生对英语学习的热情存在较大的差异。第一类,学习英语有一定基础和浓厚兴趣,学生成绩稳定的人数约5人。第二类,基础差,但学习英语的热情高,方法不当的人数约12人。第三类,基础差,没有太大兴趣,但尽量跟着老师的人数约14人。第四类,跟不上学科进度的人数约14人。

    教学设计

    教学目标

    1. Language knowledge

      ①to master the new words and phrases: shoot, stone, weak, god, remind, silly, a little bit, instead of.

      ②use conjunctions in retelling story: as...as, unless, so...that


    2. Language skills

      ①catch story's outline, elements, details through  recordings

      ②understand the main characters and events and the development of simple stories

      ③learn to retell stories in the target language

      ④learn to give their views on stories


    3. Emotion,attitude and value

      ①understand Chinese folk stories and are inspired from the stories


    4. Learning strategy

      ①the skills of listening for gist and the skills of listening for specific information


    5. The goal of cultural consciousnss

      ①from different stories, students can know that is wrong or right and direct their lives

    T:Do you like stories? When I was a child, my mother always told me stories on the bed. Let's listen to the sound of my favorite story. Can you guess what's the name of the story? 

    T:Yes, this is one Chinese fairy story--the Journey to the West


    T: and there are some other fairy stories that you may know. Let's learn how to speak them in English. The first fairy story is...the second fairy story is...

    T: When you read stories, you have to pay attention to the tips. Who can read them in Chinese?

    Tips:①书名,故事名,寓意名等,单词首字母要大写

         ②名称中有介词,连词,冠词则无需大写


    1b T: some friends are talking about one of these stories? Now listen to the recording and answer the four questions?

    task1:listen and tell which story Anna and Wang Ming talking about?

    The questions as bolew.

           What is the name of the story?

           Who is/are the main character/characters?

           When and where did it happen?

    After that we should know the facts, please listen again and finish the task on you book at page 41.

    task2: Listen and check facts you hear.

        The two mountains were very high and big

        A very old man tired to move the mountains

        A man told Yu Gong that he could never do it

    T:now let's check the answers together.

    Give Ss several minutes to make sentences about the stoy by using their own words.

    T:After you learned the story, could you tell others the beginning of the story? Please think carefully and use your own words to retell the story. Ask one to two students to retell.

    S:the story is --once upon a time, an old man named Yu Gou tired to move a high and big mountain near his house. 

    T: After he said this, What happened next? Did he succeed? Do you want to know?


    2a: listen and number the pictures 1-4 in order to tell the story

    At first, through looking at the pictures, teacher and students guess what happened in the picture and say key words. Then teacher play the tape for twice. The first time, Ss only listen, and the seconed time ,they order the pictures. At last, ask student to answer.

    2b: listen again and circle the words you hear

    Let Ss read the sentences together and know what's the meaning of the sentences. The teacher play the record for twice. If possible, T can play again when they check answers.

    After checking the answers, T point out the conjunctive words: as soon as, so... that, unless, and introduce the function of them:强调,连接,修饰的作用。

    At first let Ss watch a vedio about the conversation of the Journey to the West which is the recording material on page 101.Then ask them choose one character to play and practice for several times. After practicing, invite some students to be a little dubbing.

    Pay attention to the pronunciation, stress and intonation.

    Teacher uses a clue chart like this to help Ss to retell the story as much as possible.

    Why was that? 

    because... so...that...


    What happened next?

    told...to...move

    one day...saw...moving

    as soon as...contiune


    What was the end of the story?

    T and Ss retell the stories, if possible as they do this by groups after class.

    This part is aimed to expand Ss'thinking capacity.Ss work in groups to disscuss the questions. Invite some of them to represent.

    What can you learn from the story Yu Gong Moves a Mountain?

    If you were a number fo Yu Gong's family, will you agree with him or not? Why?

    If you have a chance to talk Yu Gong what will you say to him?
