本单元围绕“谈论自己所喜欢的学科”这一话题，展开形式多样的听、说、读、写学习活动。主要学习一周中星期一到星期天的表达方式；掌握学科的表达；学习用because和表示品质的形容词表示理由；学习what，why，who，when引导的特殊疑问句。通过本课的学习，学生学会谈论自己喜好的学科或自己喜好的其它事情并给出理由；学会合理地安排自己的作息时间，并爱上学科学习，爱上生活。
初一学生在Section A 部分已经学习了学科名称的表达方式，以及能用形容词简单谈论自己对这些学科的看法。Section B的第一课时也学习了星期一到星期天的表达，整体基础打下来了，为本篇阅读降低了难度。本课用视频、头脑风暴与集体讨论的方式再次带学生复习了词汇句型，引起学生专注与思考。阅读的设置更要求学生能将词汇句型应用到现实生活中，本文就是一写信的方式，描述了主人公Yu Mei的学习生活，对校园课程的喜好以及看法。教师应当引导学生将所学应用到实际生活，对学习各科目中遇到的一些问题展开讨论后达到德育目的，引导学生均衡快乐地学习。

1.Challenge yourself
