本课为牛津译林版(2000)模块八Unit 2 Universal language第1课时Welcome to the unit,主要谈论音乐作为世界通用语言,激发学生对本单元教学的兴趣,为单元主题学习打基础。该班学生基础一般,对音乐感兴趣,他们在初中接触过音乐话题,因此这个话题对学生来说没有问题。但是本课可能出现一些新的乐器名称,学生可能不适应,在图片和声音提示下,这个问题不难解决。

本课内容选自模块八Unit 2 Welcome to the unit,介绍什么是universal language,描述四张图片,每张图片都介绍了一中音乐或乐器。要求学生能够谈论不同种音乐和音乐家,以及中西歌剧知识。
一、教学所得
本课以新课程标准为指导,充分利用语料库、支架理论、小组合作探究等形式精心组织教学,收到了较好的效果。
Task 1: Answer questions 通过提出三个问题1. What language is spoken by most people in the world? Can we call it ‘a universal language’? Why or why not? 2. What language is widely spoken in the world? Can we call it ‘a universal language’? Why or why not? 3. What can be called ‘a universal language’? Why? 设置悬念,引导学生回答“What can be called ‘a universal language’? Why?”,激发了学生兴趣和求知欲。
Task 2: Find out vocabulary related to music 通过学生回忆所学的词汇,找学生上台写出所学词汇1. Types of music: …… 2. People/Jobs related to music: (See P. 27, 112-113) ….3. Musical instruments: (See P. 22)……为学生后续顺利学习搭好语言支架。
Task 3: Talk about the pictures 通过听英语、说英语、读文字、看视频等多种形式,让学生了解更多的音乐、音乐家以及中西歌剧,深入浅出,增加了趣味性,为下一步语言输出做好了充分准备。

二、改进建议
在教学过程中,教师虽然提供了很多听说的机会,但是学生回答问题不是很积极。可见,学生基础仍有待提升,口头表达能力仍需要进一步提高。
